Trim Levels
The LE features the distinctive grille blending into chrome accented wrap-around projector beam headlamps and daytime running lights (DRL). It has 18-inch alloy wheels, body-colored heated power side mirrors with turn signals, LED brake- and taillights, and a body-color rear spoiler with high level LED stop lights. The LE Plus adds on fog lamps, a height adjustable power liftgate, and a flip-up rear windshield.
XLE models offer chrome roof rails and window trim, door mirrors with blind spot warning indicators, and a power moonroof. The sporty SE has unique black accented LED headlamps, DRL and rear lights, a black grille, and black 19-inch multi-spoke wheels. The Limited offers bright 19-inch five-spoke wheels and door mirrors with integrated puddle lamps.
Engine
Powering the base LE front-wheel-drive models is a 185-horsepower 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers 184 pound-feet of torque. It's mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Standard on other trims is a 3.5-liter V-6 unit that features stop/start technology. Paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, the V-6 produces 295 horsepower and 263 pound-feet of torque. All-wheel drive is available on all trims.
Hybrid models have the 3.5-liter V-6 engine coupled to synchronous electric motors, producing a net power output of 306 horsepower via the continuously variable transmission. The system features electronic on-demand all-wheel drive.

Interior
Inside the LE, you'll find cloth upholstery with 60/40 split fold-flat second- and third-row seats. The tech features include a 4.2-inch cluster display, a 6.1-inch central touch screen, Bluetooth with voice command, a six-speaker sound system, and five USB ports. The LE Plus has a powered driver's seat, tri-zone climate control, an 8-inch touch screen, and satellite radio.
XLE models offer leather-trimmed seating with heated front seats, push-button start, a navigation system, and an upgraded sound system, while the SE features ambient lighting. The Limited trim has leather seating with ventilated and heated front seats, and a premium 12-speaker sound system.
Safety Features
Standard across the Highlander range is Toyota Safety Sense which includes forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning with steering assist, dynamic radar cruise control, and automatic high beams.
The standard Star Safety System offers electronic stability control, traction control, vehicle dynamics management, and ABS with electronically controlled braking, brake assist, electronic brake force distribution, and smart stop technology. The LE Plus and higher trims have blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic warning, while the Limited features rear parking sensors.
