2020 Toyota Prius Prime

There are three trim levels for the 2020 Prius Prime. The base trim is the LE. In the middle is the XLE. The final option is the Limited. All three trims feature an aerodynamic design to help you get the best mileage possible. As you approach the front of the car, make a note of the active front grille shutter. It only unlocks when your Smart Key is present. The lock is available for the XLE and Limited.

Under the hood of the Prius Prime is a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder, aluminum block engine, with 16-valve variable valve timing. When using the standard engine, the car creates 95 horsepower and 105 lb-ft of torque. The hybrid system net power is 121 horsepower. The 265-pound hybrid battery holds 8.8 kilowatt-hours of electricity.

When you use the EV motor, the car has a 25-mile driving range. After the electronic battery runs the traditional hybrid system kicks in and gives you 54 MPGe. An 11.4-gallon gas tank fuels the conventional engine. When you have a full battery and a full tank of fuel, the 2020 Prius Prime gets a combined 133 MPGe.

Stepping into the car, you quickly realize Toyota mixed together technology with comfort in the cabin design. Five people fit comfortably in the car, but if you don't need all five seats, the rear seat folds in a 60/40 configuration to give you multiple seating and cargo configurations. The heated front seats add comfort in the coldest temperatures - Limited owners also enjoy a heated steering wheel.
