Discover a World of Creativity at the El Paso Museum of Art

Opened in 1959, the El Paso Museum of Art houses an array of over 7,000 works. Over the years, its origin collection of European Baroque and Renaissance art expanded to include American, Mexican, and European pieces. An art school on-site that caters to both adults and children as well as a commitment to celebrating the cultural diversity of this binational town through exhibitions means you'll soon understand why this museum attracts over 100,000 visitors a year! European The bulk of EPMA's European works are from the Kress Collection. Comprised of fifty-seven paintings and two marble structures, the collection contains work by masters like Jusepe de Ribera, Francisco de Zurbarán, and Filippino Lippi. more Split roughly into four time periods, visitors can enjoy work from the Renaissance, Baroque, Gothic and Rococo periods. An incredible 13th-Century Madonna and Child, Martin di Bartolemo's tempura of The Crucifixion, and Van Dyck's Portrait of a Lady are just some of the pieces worth viewing. Modern and Contemporary With a focus on local artists from Texas, the US/Mexico border region — and, more broadly, the Southwest — this modern and contemporary collection displays a wide range of work from living artists working in various mediums. Video installations, sculptures, and photography are found alongside more traditional fine art. Notable works include Gaspar Enriquez's Generations of Attitudes, the vibrant fiberglass sculpture of Luis Jiménez's Barfly (Statue of Liberty), and stunning ariel shots from David Taylor's “Working the Line” series. American The permanent American collection is home to some beautiful landscape and portrait paintings from the 19th and 20th centuries. Visitors can take a trip through American art sensibilities with portraits by artists like Gilbert Stuart, Rembrandt Peale, and Thomas Sully, giving way to more impressionistic viewpoints by the likes of Robert Henri. Modernist still-lifes, American decorative art, and a collection of almost 1,000 West Texan prints and paintings round out this excellent collection. Latin American A fascinating collection of Latin American Art is formed predominantly by 19-century Mexican retablos and Spanish colonial paintings. Heavily influenced by faith and religion and meant for domestic display, retablos are typically painted on tin or copper. The bulk of the collection comes from a donation of over 500 retablos from the private collection of scholar Nancy Hamilton. A selection of 17th and 18th-century Spanish paintings display the vibrant reinterpretation of classic European works at the time, with works drawing influence from local cultures and customs to create their own unique feel. Past and Upcoming Exhibitions But it's not just the permanent collections that are worth visiting: EPMA hosts many individual or themed exhibitions during the year within various mediums. Shows displaying abstract art and clay and poetry works are upcoming, so keep an eye on their schedule. The EPMA isn't the only place in town that contains a diverse range of works of art – but it certainly is well worth a visit! Check their website for availability, then plan a fun day of exploration! 5 Tips for Visiting the El Paso Zoo

While the El Paso Zoo is currently closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, when it reopens, you'll want to plan ahead to make sure your visit is everything you hope it will be. The virus has made it critical to plan ahead before you visit any attraction, and the zoo is no exception. These top tips will help you make your visit to the zoo the best it can possibly be. Operating Hours and Days As previously mentioned, the zoo is closed until further notice to help slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus. When it reopens, the zoo will likely be closed on Monday and Tuesday, and open Wednesday through Sunday. On Wednesday through Friday, it will operate between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with the last entry at 1:00 p.m. On the weekends, it will operate between 9:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., with the last entry at 4:00 p.m. more Entrance Fees When the zoo reopens, the entrance fees will be $12.00 for guests between the ages of 18 and 59, $9.00 for those between 13 and 17 and age 60 and over, and $7.50 for children between the ages of three and 12. Kids under the age of three are free. Guests who are currently in the military and their spouses can enter at the discounted fee of $9.00 each. The process for ticketing may change due to the virus. The Rules In general, the zoo's rules are in place to keep the animals and guests safe. For instance, no pets are allowed unless they are certified service animals. Guests may not feed any of the animals because they are all on specialized diets and could get sick from other food. While selfie sticks are allowed, guests may not reach past the barriers that are in place around each exhibit. Selfie sticks may also not extend past these barriers. Visitors to the zoo can bring in their own food and drink but are not allowed to have alcohol or single-use straws on the property. Additionally, balloons, glitter, pinatas, balls, noisemakers, bikes, skateboards, and glass containers are not allowed at the zoo. For a full list of prohibited items, visit the zoo's website to ensure you don't accidentally bring in an item that is not allowed and that could harm the animals. The Animals When you visit the zoo, you'll be treated to exotic animals from Africa, Asia, and the Americas. See lions, zebras, kudu, meerkats, tortoises, and giraffes from Africa; elephants, tapirs, tigers, orangutans, and leopards from Asia; and alligators, terns, wolves, ocelots, and macaws from the Americas. Of course, this is just a small sample of the animals that'll be available for you to view once the zoo reopens. Be sure to bring your camera for the many photo opportunities you'll have! Other Attractions The zoo is primarily about all the animals it houses, but there are other attractions available for visitors to enjoy as well. These include the African Star Train, the Foster Tree-House Playground, Giraffe Encounters, the Hunt Family Endangered Species Carousel, the Hunt Family Desert Spring (splash pad), and the Wildlife Amphitheater. Currently, all attractions are closed but will reopen with limited access when the zoo reopens. Even though you're not currently able to visit the zoo, you can start planning your trip for when the zoo reopens, which will hopefully be soon and all of its wildlife can welcome you back with open limbs!

Does Your Car Need a Radiator Repair? 6 Common Signs

Your car's radiator plays a crucial role in ensuring that your vehicle runs optimally. The radiator cools down the coolant to prevent the engine from overheating. Neglecting the radiator will cause permanent damage to the engine. The following is a list of signs to help you identify issues and get a radiator repair as soon as possible and before it's too late. 1. Temperature Gauge When the needle on the temperature gauge keeps rising, it is one of the first signs that there is a problem with the cooling system. This could be caused by a build-up of debris. This could prevent the coolant from getting around the radiator to cool the engine. Pull over and let your car cool down before you drive to a service center and get a technician to look at the problem. more 2. Steam or White Smoke from Under the Hood When you see white smoke or steam coming out from under the hood, it is a sign of overheating. Don't continue driving. It's best to pull over, let your car cool down, and contact a technician to find out if you should get your vehicle towed. 3. Leaking Coolant Your coolant dashboard warning light will go on if your car is low on coolant. Check if you see a wet spot under your vehicle. If you see a green stain, it could be leaking coolant. The fluid is also sometimes pink, orange, or yellowish in color and smells sweet. When the coolant levels are too low, there is not enough fluid to reduce the heat, and the engine can overheat. Let a technician check to see which part of the radiator is leaking. 4. White Exhaust Smoke This means that there is a leak and the coolant is being burnt. Your car will overheat because there is not enough fluid to keep your vehicle cool. It could also mean that your engine already suffered damage. 5. Damaged or Blocked Fins Your vehicle's radiator fins can get blocked by bugs, leaves, or road dirt. They can also bend or be damaged by stones. Air passes through the fins to lower the coolant temperature. Radiators need airflow for cooling. Damaged fins will limit the airflow, clog up the radiator, and will cause the engine to overheat. When you notice the fins are damaged and bent, take your car for a radiator service. 6. Rust or Discoloration If you notice rust on any part of the radiator, you should seriously consider replacing it. Too much rust could cause leaks. When rust and coolant mix, it becomes a thick liquid and prevents the engine from being cooled effectively. The moment you spot rust or discoloration, you need to get the radiator inspected. If you experience any of the above signs, get your car to a technician asap. To avoid getting stuck on the side of the road and costly repairs, don’t ignore the warning signs: contact Fox Toyota today. Our skilled technicians will inspect your vehicle's radiator and sort out the problem fast and efficiently. Image via pixabay.com | Licensed under Pixabay License

The body shop services include paint and scratch repair, vehicle bodywork, professional color matching, and many more. 3. Oil Change Oil and filter change is one of many fluid-change services your dealership offers. Clean oil provides efficient lubrication to your engine's moving parts, without which severe damage can occur. Additionally, failure to change oil can void your warranty. Changing your car's oil depends on the type of oil you use; every 3000 miles for conventional and 5000-10000 miles for synthetic oil. 4. Brake Adjustment Brake maintenance can prevent you from having to replace more expensive parts like rotors. Most modern Toyota vehicles have built-in sensors to alert the driver when the brake pads need attention. Do not hesitate to book in for service at your authorized dealership should you hear any noise from your brakes. 5. Wheel Rotation Tires do not wear evenly on their own. The front and back tires carry varying loads on different cars. Wheel rotation is the best way to ensure more even wear and tear. It is recommended to have your tires rotated every 5000-8000 miles, and the professionals at the dealership will provide expert maintenance on your wheels. Proper alignment and balance will keep your car running in top shape. 6. Engine Check and Maintenance Stop by your local Toyota service center to see if all parts of your engine, such as belts and spark plugs, are running in peak condition. It works best on a clean mixture of fuel and air. Any other debris sucked along with air affects your engine's ability to run well. Replacing a dusty or dirty filter is vital for the best performance. Your Toyota does so much for you, and it deserves the best in return. When it needs maintenance or service, consider taking it to an authorized dealership.
