Toyota has always emphasized safety in its vehicles, but this year they expanded the list to include all the best safety features available in today’s vehicle market. Here are a few of the 2024 Toyota safety features we’re most excited about.
Toyota’s Newly-Updated Safety Sense 3.0
Automatic High Beams
At speeds above 21 MPH, these intelligent automatic beams maximize your night-driving visibility by activating the high beams when the road ahead is clear. When the program detects an oncoming vehicle, it will dim the lights as a courtesy to the other driver.
Dynamic Radar Cruise Control
This program is meant to keep you a preset distance away from the vehicle you’re following, and the system will adjust your Toyota’s speed to maintain this distance. The system works at all speeds from slowing to a complete stop to takeoff with the available Full-Speed Range feature.
Lane Departure Alert
This system keeps track of the yellow and white road lines and your Toyota’s position within them. The program provides audio/visual alerts if the Toyota’s tire drifts outside the painted lines, and the included Steering Assist can briefly take control of the wheel to steer the vehicle back into its intended lane.
Lane-Tracing Assist
This program works in tandem with Dynamic Radar Cruise Control by using both the proceeding vehicle and the lane markings as guides to help keep your Toyota in the center of its traveling lane. The available Emergency Driving Stop System acts as a driver attention monitor that will watch driver inputs and bring the Toyota to a stop if the driver is tired/inattentive.
Pre-Collision System
This includes Pedestrian Detection and will provide audio/visual alerts if collision objects are detected ahead of your Toyota. The system can autonomously use the brakes to avoid or lessen collisions.
Proactive Driving Assist
Designed to make your maneuvers easier, this program will provide steering/braking assistance when taking on curves and maintaining distance from other vehicles.
Road Sign Assist
Using camera technology, the program will detect and display signs such as warnings and speed limits as you pass them.
Exterior Safety Programs
The Panoramic View Monitor is available as an add-on and uses overhead HD cameras to display the area surrounding your Toyota. The available Front and Rear Park Assist includes Automatic Braking to help you make tricky parking maneuvers with ease, and the standard Star Safety System includes stability programs like Electronic Brake-Force Distribution, Vehicle Stability Control, Smart-Stop Technology, and Brake Assist in addition to ABS and Traction Control.
Interior Systems
Toyota’s Safety Connect system includes a trial membership of up to ten years, offering essential features like 24/7 Roadside Support, Stolen Vehicle Locator, and Automatic Collision Notification.
