Power and Performance

The standard power unit in the SR and SR5 models is a 159 horsepower 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine delivering 180 pound-feet of torque. Optional on these models and standard in other trims is a 3.5-liter V-6 producing 278 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque. A standard six-speed automatic transmission is paired with both engines, while TRD models offer the option of a six-speed manual transmission.

When equipped with the V-6 engine, the Tacoma has a payload of 1,440 pounds and, with the available trailer tow package, a towing capacity of up to 6,800 pounds. For superior off-road performance, the TRD Pro features increased ground clearance, multiple terrain settings, crawl control, uprated shocks, and a locking rear differential.

Exterior Styling

The SR might be the workhorse of the lineup, but it’s still well-equipped. It features a bold grille, projector beam headlamps, distinctive daytime running lights (DRL), color-keyed bumpers, door handles, and heated power side mirrors, 16-inch steel wheels, skid plates, and a composite bed with adjustable tie-down cleats.

SR5 models add fog lights and a chrome grille surround and rear bumper, while the TRD Sport has wide-angle fog lights, a hood scoop, 17-inch alloy wheels, mirrors with turn signals, and a 120-volt power outlet in the bed. The TRD Off-Road offers 16-inch alloy wheels and black over fenders.

The Limited trim has a silver grille, 18-inch wheels, chrome accents, and color-keyed over fenders and bumpers. The off-road specialist TRD Pro features a unique grille, skid plates, and badging, black accented lights, black hood scoop, and 16-inch black alloy wheels with all-terrain tires.

Interior Features 

SR models feature cloth upholstery, a 4.2-inch driver information display, air conditioning, a tilting and telescoping multifunction steering wheel, a sliding rear windshield, and the Entune multimedia system. The SR5 adds a leather steering wheel, while the TRD Sport has a push-button start, a leather-trimmed shift lever, and a wireless charging pad.

The TRD Off-Road adds a power sliding rear window, while the luxurious Limited trim has leather upholstery and dual-zone climate control. TRD Pro offers unique leather seating with heated front seats and TRD Pro shift knob and mats.

Driver Assistance

All Tacoma models feature Toyota Safety Sense with dynamic cruise control, a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, trailer sway alert, and automatic high beams. Also standard is the Star Safety System with safe handling and braking systems. The Limited trim adds blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and rear parking sensors.
